Trash and restore

Deletions in a shared label propagate — that is the point of sharing, but it also means one mistaken delete can remove a contact from many address books at once. Rolyio’s Trash is the safety net.

What Trash keeps

When a contact is deleted from a shared label, Rolyio saves a snapshot of the full contact content in the Trash. Snapshots are kept for 30 days from the moment of deletion, then purged automatically. This 30-day window is fixed: it cannot be extended, and the purge happens regardless of account status. If you need a snapshot removed sooner for privacy reasons, contact support@rolyio.com.

Restore a deleted contact

  1. Open the Trash.
  2. Find the contact you want to bring back. Snapshots keep the full content of the contact as it was at deletion time.
  3. Click Restore.

Restoration is a single click — the contact returns to its label, and the next sync delivers it back to every recipient’s address book. See How sync works for how quickly that happens.

Who deletes contacts, and why it matters

Contacts can disappear from a shared label in more ways than you might expect:

  • The owner deletes a contact from the label.
  • A recipient with the Edit or Can reshare role deletes the contact from their “(Shared)” group — this removes it from the owner’s label too. See Roles and permissions for details on this behavior.

In both cases the deletion syncs to everyone, and in both cases the Trash keeps a snapshot for 30 days.

Finding out what happened

Every action in Rolyio — deletions included — is recorded in the Audit log: who did what, and when. If contacts vanished from a shared label, check the Audit log to see which account deleted them, then restore the contacts from the Trash.

What Trash does not cover

The Trash tracks deletions handled through Rolyio’s sync of shared labels. It is not a general backup of your entire address book — contacts outside your shared labels are managed entirely by Google or Microsoft, including their own trash features.
